how to draw a regular octagon when given the length of one side

How To Draw An Octagon When Given The Length Of The Sides

An octagon is a polygon with 8 sides. It can either be a regular octagon or an irregular octagon. A regular octagon is one having all the sides equal which is what I’ll be explaining in this tutorial. Let take the length of the side to be 5cm.

Note: Irrespective of the length, the steps are still the same.

Step 1: Draw the 5cm which is one side of the octagon. Let’s call it Line AB

Step 2: Place your protractor on Point A and measure 45o in a clockwise direction. OR from point B, measure 45o in an anticlockwise direction.

Step 3: Repeat this process to get all 8 sides.
